Publishing Policy

IMSU Journal of Communication Studies (IMSU JCS) is a blind peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Department of Mass Communication, Imo State University, Owerri. The journal accepts papers from all areas of Mass Communication and other communication-related disciplines. The journal accepts both empirical and position papers of high quality. IMSU JCS is committed to maintaining high standards with strict ethical policies. Any infringements of professional ethical codes, such as plagiarism, fraudulent use of data, or false claims of authorship, are strictly forbidden. All articles for submission must be original to the author(s) and free from plagiarism.

The purpose of IMSU Journal of Communication Studies is to contribute to the body of knowledge in the field of communication and media studies.

The print version of the journal is published by Madonna Printing and Publishing House while the electronic version is published by Nano Edge Technology. The electronic version is an open-access journal. Our open-access journal allows users free access to full text of research papers without restriction for the interest of the scientific community globally. However, users of third-party material are expected to engage in fair usage.

Any author shall be entitled to one hard copy of the volume in which his/her article appears. In the case of co-authors, the authors shall have only one complimentary hard copy and will be given more copies subsequently upon request and payment of a certain amount which will be stipulated. Authors have the option of requesting file copies for subsequent requests, which is relatively cheaper.

IMSU JCS retains the copyright for every publication, and in case of re-use, permission must be sought from the publisher.

All papers are to be submitted alongside evidence of payment of an assessment fee of N5,000 by the author. Accepted papers are to be submitted with a publication fee of N15,000. All papers are to be submitted electronically as a Microsoft Office Word document attachment to [email protected], as third-party submissions may lead to rejection. Papers submitted should not be under consideration elsewhere.

Author(s) are expected to have their work written in British English with proper grammar and spellings. The journal will not be responsible for correcting grammatical errors in a given paper. If the errors in a work are excessive, the editorial team reserves the right to reject the paper. The editorial team also reserves the right to determine whether an article is an appropriate fit for the journal. Articles considered unfit for the journal will be rejected without formal appeal. However, if an author feels the rejection was due to errors in the review process, they may contact the editor to register their complaint.
